Information Services and Peer Support - Spinal Cord Injury

- Peer support: Peer Program Coordinators live with SCI, are located throughout BC and are always there to lend an ear, answer questions. Peer connection is also available for family members who would like to talk to others who have been impacted by their loved one’s disability.
- Meetups & Coffee Groups: Weekly and monthly meetups throughout the province. These casual hangouts provide a relaxed atmosphere to ask questions, swap stories and share advice. Plus, there is usually a free cup of coffee involved!
- Events: They host more than 300 events each year. These range from laid-back BBQs, book clubs and educational panels, to more adventurous outings like adaptive kayaking, trail riding, camping and rock climbing. View the calendar.
- SCI InfoLine: Provides answers, resources and support related to SCI and living with a disability. Individuals can call the InfoLine toll-free from 9 am – 5 pm, Monday to Friday at 1-800-689-2477. This service is free of charge and available to anyone living with a spinal cord injury or other disability, family, friends, health professionals and other service providers.
- Recipes & Nutrition: Handy nutrition tips, and delicious SCI-conscious recipes from our cooking classes.
- SCI Info Database: The SCI Info Database is an online encyclopedia with more than 800 current and comprehensive resources for people with spinal cord injuries and related physical disabilities, their families, and other stakeholders in British Columbia. The Database includes information on accessible transportation, independent living, employment, advocacy, health and more. It is updated often to include the latest websites, important contact information and downloadable resources.
