Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD) Peer Support Programs

A network of peer-to-peer connections and community supports through all stages of medical assistance in dying (MAiD).
Bridge C-14 is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals and their loved ones throughout all stages of the assisted death process in Canada. Through meaningful connections and access to resources, the organization offers support, guidance, and community during this critical time.

Available support includes:
  • 1:1 Peer Support: Volunteers provide peer-to-peer connections for individuals choosing MAiD and individuals supporting someone choosing MAiD. They also support individuals grieving a MAiD loss. Connections can be arranged by phone, text, email or online meeting platform. (program currently on hold)
  • Drop-In Sessions: Offers a variety of virtual, peer-led drop-in sessions to support individuals, families and communities navigating Medical Assistance in Dying (MAiD). Each session is designed to foster meaningful connection and support by bringing together people with shared experiences.
  • Facebook Support Groups: Offers a supportive group environment for individuals and families with experience MAiD. By connecting with others who share similar experiences, participants can navigate grief, gain insight, and feel understood within a compassionate community.
  • Grief Support Groups: Groups are offered 'seasonally'. They are facilitated over a 10-week period on Zoom and each session is 90 minutes long. These groups require registration in advance and are currently offered only for individuals grieving a MAiD loss.
