Community Medical Detox - Victoria

A free of charge community residential facility providing voluntary, medically supervised withdrawal management.
Provides a 24-hour medically supervised withdrawal management for people in acute withdrawal in an inpatient setting. People who come to Community Medical Detox do so voluntarily. The 21 bed medically supported facility serves the south island. This is an abstinence-based program for individuals with alcohol and/or substance use disorder.

Persons applying to the Community Medical Detox are expected to be ambulatory and to be able to manage their own self-care. While staying at the Community Medical Detox people must remain abstinent from drugs and alcohol. All clients will be required to provide a urine drug screen and breathalyzer upon admission to determine level of intoxication and withdrawal risk.

Services Provided
  • 24-hour support for withdrawal management
  • Average stay of seven days
  • Daily programming, including clinician-lead group counselling, peer support, facilitated recovery groups and AcuDetox
  • Support to safely reach the early stages of abstinence-based recovery
  • Referrals to community resources

Once Community Medical Detox receives your referral, you will be placed on the waitlist and contacted when a bed becomes available.
