Public Health Units offers a variety of services in one location.
  • Early Years: Public Health Nurses (PHNs) assess maternal & newborn health and development, and provide education and ongoing support through early childhood as needed.
  • Child Health Clinics: Global health and development assessments, health information, education and referrals. Immunizations according to the BC Immunization Guide for children at 2, 4, 6, 12, and 18 months, and for 4-6 year olds.
  • Sexual Health & Youth: Healthy students are better learners and better-educated individuals are healthier. A healthy school is one that consistently strengthens its capacity as a healthy setting for learning, playing, and working.
  • Nutrition: Dieticians provide information and support related to food and nutrition via consultations, clinics, and health promotion.
  • Prenatal programs
  • Immunizations
  • BC Early Hearing Program
  • Speech and Language
  • Dental health programs
  • Communicable Disease Control
  • Harm Reduction Supplies and Services

Community Health Centres do not have acute care beds, but may provide: basic laboratory and radiology; urgent care; outpatient ambulatory care; community services; long term residential care services; and/or on-site doctors’ offices.
