Student Health and Wellness Centre

Provided by Vancouver Island University (VIU)

Serves as the central hub at VIU for student health needs, both physical and mental. This inlcudes the Student Medical Clinic as well as the Counselling team, providing comprehensive support for student well-being.
Student Health Clinic: is open to provide medical health care to students enrolled at Vancouver Island University. The Student Health Clinic aims to provide health care, education and preventive medicine.
The VIU Medical Clinic is not a walk-in clinic. Appointments must be scheduled by calling the appointment line (see contact information below). The appointment line is available Monday to Friday from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The clinic is closed on weekends and statutory holidays.

Counselling Services for Students: Counsellors support students in gaining self-awareness, building on strengths, overcoming challenges, and exploring new opportunities. Students seek counselling for concerns such as depression or low mood, anxiety, grief and loss, self-harm, relationship difficulties, perfectionism, substance use, confidence, disordered eating, loneliness, procrastination, internet addiction, coping with traumatic events, or adjusting to university life. Services offered:
  • Personal Counselling for Students, including urgent appointments
  • Wellness Workshops and Groups for Students
  • Orientation to Counselling Services
  • Consultation with Faculty
  • Referrals
