BC Women's Maternity (BCWH) Urgent Care Centre (UCC)

Assesses and treats pregnant patients who are registered to deliver at BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre, or have delivered and are up to six weeks post-birth, who present with acute illnesses or injuries related to their pregnancy.
The BC Women’s Maternity Urgent Care Centre is the province's only urgent care centre dedicated to caring for pregnant and postpartum women. Visit the Maternity Urgent Care Centre if:
  • Your water has broken or you think that you are in labour
  • You are scheduled for a C-section but go into labour early
  • You are experiencing bleeding in your 2nd or 3rd trimester
  • You have been diagnosed as a high blood pressure pregnancy
  • You are experiencing a lack of fetal movement
The Urgent Care Centre is open 24 hours a day. A referral is not needed to use this service.

For urgent obstetrical concerns where attending the Maternity Urgent Care Centre is not possible, contact a maternity care provider immediately.
