Parent Coaching and Support Programs

Provided by Cowichan Valley Youth Services (CVYS)

Offers free support services for parents and caregivers of youth in the Cowichan Valley who are experiencing challenges related to family conflict.
Parent Coaching Program:
Services may include:
  • One-on-one parent coaching sessions with trained Youth & Family Counsellor;
  • Strategies for improving family communication
  • Specialized groups;
  • Referrals to additional community resources:
  • Family sessions to bridge connections between caregivers and youth.

The program aims to shift unproductive patterns, such as frequent arguments and offers alternative solutions. It emphasizes the importance of avoiding power struggles and teaches effective communication techniques that encourage cooperation.

Parent drop-in: Every Friday Morning, Call 250-748-0232 to learn more and sign up.
This drop-in is designed for parents and caregivers of teenagers or pre-teens, offering a supportive space to connect, learn, and grow. Participants will discuss and share experiences with other parents and explore parenting styles, effective communication, conflict resolution, and mindfulness practices. Please call to register.

Connect Attachment Program: A 10-week program to support parents and caregivers of pre-teens and teens with behavioural and emotional challenges. Parents meet in small groups with two trained group leaders for 90 minutes each week. Each session provides parents with a new perspective on parent-teen relationships and adolescent development utilizing attachment-based theories. Call to learn more and register for the next session.
