Youth and Young Adult Substance Use Services

Various substance use service for youth 12+ in the Interior Health region.
Interior Health Authority and their partners provide various services to youth, including:
  • Youth Intensive Case Management: Offers low barrier outreach services to meet patients (12-24 years old) where they are at, without judgment. They will work with patients to meet their immediate needs and connect them with supports and services to improve their health and meet wellness goals. This program is for (severe severity; low complexity)
  • Youth Substance Use Services: Community based Youth Substance Use Services works with patients (12-24 years old) and their family (where applicable) to set goals, learn and develop skills to work on substance use concerns and strengthen wellness. Connecting them with the right service to meet each clients unique needs. Services may include (not all services offered in all locations): Youth Substance Use Outreach, Youth Substance Use Counselling & Treatment, Youth Substance Use Day Treatment, Contracted Youth Substance Use Services. This program is for (moderate to severe severity; moderate complexity)
  • Substance Use Connections: Support people of all ages who use drugs in both hospital and community settings. Clinicians who support this priority response provide the following services if patients present with/or are at risk of overdose: Short term follow up to support seamless linkages to community based addictions care, referrals to Opioid Agonist Treatment, liaison with Addiction Medicine Consultation Services, assessment & treatment support, and safe discharge planning from hospital settings. This program is for (moderate to severe severity; moderate complexity)
  • Early Substance Use Intervention: Works in partnership with school districts to provide Early Substance Use Intervention and screening for substance use concerns, and connection to best fit service where appropriate. This service meets clients (12-19 years old) where they are at to understand their goals, provide fact based SU information, and learn and develop skills to strengthen wellness. This program is for (moderate to severe severity; moderate complexity) and offered in Penticton
