Early Psychosis Intervention Program - For young adults experiencing a first psychotic episode - Kamloops

Provides early identification and treatment for first episode of psychosis. For residents of the Kamloops area aged 19-30 (with flexibility).
Provides early intervention for schizophrenia spectrum, bipolar psychosis, and brief psychotic episodes.
For young adults aged 19-30 living in the Kamloops area. This is one of four catchment areas for the Early Psychosis Intervention Program in the Interior Region.

Provides treatment for First Episode Psychosis, including:
  • Psychosis NOS
  • Psychosis NYD
  • Bipolar
  • Schizoaffective
  • Schizophrenia

Excludes individuals with an IQ below 75, high substance use, or living outside of Kamloops.

Basic early psychosis services provided include:
  • complete assessment of symptoms and physical functioning
  • medication management
  • case manager
  • family support and education
  • client education
  • treatment of problems in living and other mental health issues

In addition to these basic early intervention services more comprehensive services may be offered including:
  • groups
  • cognitive assessments and rehabilitation

Anyone can refer including self-referral.
After Hours 24 hours a day call Regional Mental Health Crisis Line at no charge 1-888-353-2273. This number is provided to clients if they are experiencing increased symptoms outside of office hours. The crisis line provides clients with any emotional support needed and connects clients to various resources in the community including 911.
